Planning a kitchen remodel in Pinellas County: what to expect
From the first walkthrough to the final wipe-down, here's how a kitchen remodel actually goes, and how to keep it on track.
A kitchen remodel is one of the best upgrades you can make, and also one of the most involved. Knowing how the process works makes it a lot less stressful. Here's how a typical project goes with us.
1. The walkthrough
We start at your house. We look at the space, measure, check what's behind the walls where we can, and talk about how you use your kitchen: who cooks, what drives you crazy about it now, and what you've been saving pictures of.
2. A detailed estimate
You get a written estimate that spells out the scope: what's being removed, what's going in, and who's supplying what. If something isn't included, it should say so. Clear estimates are how you avoid surprises later.
3. Selections
Cabinets, countertops, backsplash, sink and faucet, hardware, lighting and flooring. Lead times matter here. Some cabinets and countertop materials can take weeks to arrive, so we lock in selections before demolition starts and nobody is stuck waiting with a torn-out kitchen.
4. Permits, when they're needed
Swapping cabinet doors or a backsplash usually doesn't need a permit. Moving plumbing, adding circuits or changing walls usually does. Rules vary by city across Pinellas County, so we check with the local building department for your address. As a licensed general contractor, we pull the permits we're licensed for and schedule the inspections.
5. Construction
Demolition, any rough-in work, then cabinets, countertop templating and install, backsplash, fixtures and trim. We keep the work area as contained as we can and clean up every day, so the rest of your home stays livable.
6. The final walkthrough
When we're done, we walk the kitchen with you, test everything, and make sure every door closes and every drawer glides the way it should.
